monks don’t make music.
Whats up, my names Rico Burgos and I started making music three years ago in my dorm room over at Texas Tech with just my headphones and my phone. Tbh I was just messing around, originally publishing my music under the name “Monk”. Not until a year later I realized how much I actually loved making music.
I stayed up wayy too late with my friends, just experimenting and trying to make something that sounded like what we were going through. It brought us closer. Music has always been tied to moments in my life, every song reminds me of something I felt, someone I knew, or a time I’ll never forget. Forever reflecting nostalgia onto me. The stronger the feeling, the more meaningful the song became.
All I want is to make music that other people can connect their own memories to, whether it’s being piss drunk at the lake, breaking up with “the ex”, or finding your purpose. Music has become so much more than I anticipated. It became my way of processing life’s biggest lessons, and being able to share it with other people is something I’ll always be grateful for.
Thank you for giving me your time and attention. I love you guys fr, and I’ll keep making music that I hope speaks to you the way it speaks to me. THANK YOU A BILLION!
